I don’t spend much time in Kendall. It’s where I grew up and where I live, but the most Kendall action that I get is my bed. Anyway, I still have to eat there sometimes. It’s pretty obvious that I don’t frequent chain restaurants, so where do you eat in Kendall that’s not a chain restaurant and maybe worth it? The following series of lists are not my picks, not my opinions. They are literally an almost exhaustive list of every non-chain restaurant that you can find in the parameters of Kendall as divided by streets (say, my own little foray into food mapping). No opinions, no explanations, just a list with links, if there is one available.
I call this one The Sunset Drag (inhabiting the parameters of Sunset and 167 Avenue and Sunset and 72 Avenue including the outliers not directly on Sunset Drive, but close enough to be considered so). Why end it on Sunset and 72 Avenue? That is the murky area that is more identifiable with South Miami, and we know Kendall and SoMi don’t mix.
The LIST in sequential order from Sunset and 167 Avenue to Sunset and 72 Avenue:
- Fritanga Montelimar
- Canton Star
- Amici Pizza
- Chuck Wagon Restaurant
- La Casita Restaurant
- Siam Bistro Miami
- Rock That Burger
- El Tambo Grill
- Lee’s Chinese Food

As always, I invite my readers to add to the conversation. What have I missed? Add to the list.
